Giving is a part of Living

While following a link to a story this morning from a group I belong to on FB I came across a wonderful site! This is a truly inspirational story in itself and I thought it was a wonderful representation of what can happen when we choose to take the focus off "us" and spread it around to others.

29gifts.com has a wonderful story behind it and it is something that I relate to quite well.  Like the woman behind 29gifts.com my mother has Multiple Sclerosis and I have seen the power of giving in action through my mother so I am very pleased to see yet another individual whom the power of giving has impacted so wondrously.

When my mother was 34 years old she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and at the time she was literally unable to care for herself.  In 1979 she moved back to her home province and for the next number of years she began to give of herself to others.  She started a newsletter that not only empowered her but empowered others around her and she became a published writer, an organizer of a number of events and so much more.

Although my mother didn't have the dramatic level of remission that Cami Walker of 29gifts.com experienced, she did have an incredible "rebirth" due to her own involvement with giving of herself to others.  My mother's rebirth was so profound that in early 2000 she was offered the opportunity to live in an apartment of her own (she was staying in an assisted living home).  She turned it down with this statement, "Thank you but God wants me here and I can be of more service here than in a place of my own!"

Cami Walker's story is one of true inspiration as well and it is just another wonderful example of what being grateful for what you have and sharing of yourself with others can do in your life.

Birth of New World consciousness

"The whole world is on the eve of a new consciousness, a new power, and a new realization within the self."  Charles F. Haanel, 1917 - The Master Key System

How very true this statement remains - even now, 93 years later,  as we, the World, converge upon a new decade.  The year 2010 - it represents for many a new era of hope, achievement, success, progress and valuable changes.  For others it continues to be viewed as a difficult path ahead consisting of what the world continues to face  -  wars, famines, plagues, pandemics, death, dying and slow destruction.

Some believe that the world will cease to exist as it is now as the date December 21, 2012 arrives while there are many more still who view this date as the opportunity for our world to take on a New World of Ages. If mankind has grown enough within self to access the power within them to accomplish the many valuable changes that their new consciousness will allow them - we can achieve a wonderfully new way of life that moves us toward a world where perhaps John Lennon's "Imagine" finally becomes a true reality.  It is our responsibility as humans to determine - do we act responsibly or foolishly?  Do we repeat history over and over again or do we write a new and more wise story for our future?

No one knows what will happen over the next few years yet man is in control of the events and the outcomes as they transpire during the coming months and years and in an ideal world there would be the working of mankind toward a more harmonic understanding between nations and peoples from all races, creeds, lifestyles and religions.  We would no longer live as humans at the foot of a Tower of Babble.  Instead, we would look within ourselves and come to the realization that what is within us is also without. What is within us, is also without - there is no mistaking that each of us desires to be, to have, to enjoy - a life that is free from strife, illness, anger, hatred, and greed.  It takes just one single action to begin the changes that each of us desire yet for many, they seem to be afraid of the first step.  Change, it is that uncomfortable step into the unknown that holds so many back from taking a look within themselves and then making the intention and following with an action that could, would make all the difference.
