Are you making room for Gratitude?

What would a blog about gratitude be without a place to express gratitude?  Have you heard of the "Happiest place on the Internet" yet?

GratitudeLog.com brings together over 10,000 members who share their reasons for being grateful every day.  It's just one of the ways in which people can discover the amazing power of gratitude.

Although the premise behind GratitudeLog.com is to allow members to concentrate on what they already have in their lives to be grateful for...it's the ability this site offers you to realize that what you have in your life at this very point in time is truly amazing!

What is it about being grateful for what is in your life now...regardless of how small that may be...that allows you to open yourself up to receive even more to be grateful for?  It is the act of acknowledgment to God, the Universe, Source, or whomever you believe is the Divine ... for the opportunity you have to experience and attain the magnificence that is in your life at this moment.  Being grateful and thankful for those things which are yours at this very moment in time allows you to open up to what may become yours tomorrow for when we are grateful for what is already a part of us, it allows us to open up another "block" in our lives which makes room for additional opportunities for gratitude.

As I write this my husband is lying on the couch in our living room downstairs.  Through the open door I hear the faint voice of someone humming Silent Night, Holy Night.  A movie plays, which has nothing to do with Christmas...the music is coming from one of our children's rooms.  It's an amazing mesh of personalities that waft through the door at this time and somehow, it all seems to go together and creates a unique yet cohesive union of joy and calm.  This brings into my perspective the opportunity for gratefulness...such a small thing yet it is something that allows me to take a moment and realize that it is a fabulous opportunity to be able to be thankful, grateful for those things in my life that make me happy.  For when I can recognize those and be thankful for those, it allows me to realize then that the larger things that come into my life do so because I have made way for them to enter.

I have taken the time to pay attention to those things for which I have the opportunity to be grateful and once I have acknowledged them...like a jigsaw puzzle, the piece slides into place and makes room for me to take up yet another opportunity to notice something to be grateful for in my life...Do you see the pattern?  The Possibilities?

As we are grateful for those small things (or those things we envision as small) in our lives...on a daily basis, we then place them in their designated position in our world and open up another space where we can then invite more into our lives for which we can be grateful.

Every day there is a reason to be grateful, no matter who you are...no matter what you may believe you do or do not have in your life.  Opening our eyes to see yet another day is something for which each of us can be grateful...but there is more...so much more.  It takes us only moments to be grateful but for those who fail to acknowledge gratefulness, they sometimes wonder, "How is it that others do not struggle every day as I seem to do?"   It isn't that others don't have their struggles, it's simply that others may look at struggles in a much different way...more as "lessons of opportunity" rather than struggles for which they have to be armed in order to overcome.

How we look at our lives often dictates how we determine gratefulness.  If our lives are considered a series of uphill battles for which we must continuously be prepared to struggle through...then of course, that is exactly what we will receive.  Our attitude is something that dictates our mood and if our attitude is always one of struggles, defeats, difficulties...of course our mood is going to be one of frustration, anger, depression.

Changing our attitude and accepting the opportunity to be grateful rather than bemoan the lack of things in our life for which we have no reason to be grateful makes the difference.

Starting today...try it...be grateful for even the smallest things in your life...see what difference takes place...watch the space clear allowing room for more things to enter your life for which you can then be grateful for as well...you might be amazed at the opportunities that begin to open up for you once you are paying attention to the small things in life.

To help you remember to be grateful...why not join GratitudeLog.com - they are a wonderful group of individuals who will soon have you feeling inspired and transformed into a person who is able to see gratefulness all around you and the changes that take place in your life may astound you!  See you there!
